Understanding your period cycle shouldn't be isolating

For too long, women have been left to navigate their hormonal cycles alone, collecting scattered bits of advice but rarely finding tools that make sense of what’s happening within their unique rhythms.

KNOWN changes that by helping you see and understand your patterns with clarity, and then connect those insights with the people who matter most. Share your cycle with friends who get it, or with a partner who wants to better support you. Understanding your body should bring you closer to the people in your life, and closer to yourself.

What is KNOWN?

KNOWN is a social hormonal cycle tracking app built around the science of your hormonal cycle, not just the few days of your period. It surfaces daily insights across all four phases (menstrual, follicular, ovulation, luteal), helps you understand your own patterns over time, and lets you share your cycle with the people close to you.

What makes KNOWN different from other period tracker apps?

Most period trackers optimize for one thing: logging when your period starts and predicting when the next one comes. That leaves out roughly 80% of your cycle, when your hormones are still shaping your energy, mood, and body. KNOWN is built for that whole picture. Two things set it apart, and they work together: Depth of daily insight, so you get science-based reports and daily guidance for every phase, not just the bleed, and a social layer, so the people around you can move through it with you. It's the difference between a calendar and actually knowing your body.

How is KNOWN different from Flo?

Flo is built primarily around period prediction, fertility, and pregnancy, with a large content library and a way to share updates with a partner. KNOWN is built for the whole cycle, not just the days you bleed and not only when you're trying to conceive. Instead of centering prediction and life stages, KNOWN focuses on daily, phase-based insight across all four phases, delivered two ways: in-depth reports that help you understand your own body, and daily wisdoms that make those patterns useful the same day. Also, KNOWN is founded by women, for women. Our social layer is about shared language rather than one-way updates. The goal is for the people around you to actually understand what you're moving through and getting action-recommendations on what to do, not just receive a notification.

How is KNOWN different from Clue?

Clue is known for a clinical, science-led, gender-neutral approach to tracking and analysis. KNOWN shares the commitment to science (we build our insight reports alongside a science advisory board), but the experience is different in two ways. First, depth: KNOWN gives you detailed, phase-based insight for the whole cycle in plain language, not just charts to interpret on your own. Second, connection: KNOWN turns cycle awareness into shared language for partners and friends, so the understanding doesn't stay locked in the app. If Clue feels like a lab report, KNOWN is closer to a coach and a conversation.

Is KNOWN a good alternative to Flo or Clue?

If you've outgrown basic period tracking and want to understand your patterns across the entire cycle, yes. Flo and Clue are strong at prediction, fertility, and logging. KNOWN is for the next step: proactively living in sync with your phases and building shared language with your partner and friends. A lot of people use a period tracker for years without ever feeling like they understand their own body. KNOWN is built to close that gap.

What are the four cycle phases?

Your menstrual cycle has four phases: menstrual , follicular, ovulatory, and luteal. Each is driven by different hormonal shifts that affect your energy, mood, focus, and social drive in documented, predictable ways. KNOWN tracks all four and not just the bleed.

Menstrual (~Days 1–6):Estrogen and progesterone at their lowest → dopamine and serotonin quiet down → energy is often lowest

Follicular (~Days 7–13): Estrogen climbs → supports dopamine → focus and drive tend to build

Potential Ovulation (~Days 14–17): Estrogen peaks with a small testosterone bump → energy, confidence, and sociability often peak here

Luteal (~Days 18–28): Progesterone rises, then it + estrogen fall before your period → serotonin dips → focus can fade and brain fog is common late in the phase

*Your period is the start of your follicular phase. We break it out because it feels different, but it's the same rising arc.

Does KNOWN work if my cycle is irregular?

Yes. KNOWN learns your pattern over time rather than assuming a standard 28-day cycle. The more you log, the more accurate your insights become for your cycle specifically.

Does KNOWN integrate with Apple Health?

Yes. KNOWN integrates with Apple Health, so data you're already tracking can inform your cycle insights without duplicate logging.

Who reviews the science behind KNOWN's insights?

KNOWN's content is developed with input from a Science Advisory Board spanning neuroscience, psychology, nutrition, and physical therapy including PhDs, a registered dietitian, and a doctor of physical therapy.

Can I use KNOWN if I'm on hormonal birth control?

Yes. KNOWN can still help you track daily energy, mood, and symptoms over time and surface patterns. The four-phase hormonal fluctuations may look different on hormonal birth control, and KNOWN reflects what's actually true for you rather than assuming a standard cycle pattern.

Can I share my cycle with a partner or friend?

Yes! KNOWN is built with a social layer so you can share your cycle phases with the people close to you. KNOWN is built so the people close to you can actually understand what phase you're in and what it tends to mean for you, in language that makes sense to them. The private group-chat conversations women have been having for years finally have a home. We have two connection options: partners & friends/ family. Cycle awareness tends to land differently when the people around you can see it too. You and your friends can stay synced on the latest in your cycle, and your partner gets proactive tips & nudges on how best to support you for every day of your month.

How much does KNOWN cost?

The baseline experience for KNOWN will always be free because we think every HUMAN deserves to learn about the hormonal cycle. We’ll soon be launching KNOWN Pro, which will be available for $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. KNOWN Pro will include features like personalized daily wisdoms, monthly end-of-cycle analytics reports, notifications of The Void, & additional pattern deep-dives.

Where can I download KNOWN?

KNOWN is available on the App Store for iPhone (download it here) and on Google Play for Android (download it here
